After identifying who may be harmed and how, the next step of the risk assessment is to evaluate the risks and decide whether the hazards can be eliminated or controlled.

The competent person will need to identify any control measures that are already in place. These may include existing equipment, such as stepladders or mobile towers.

Any further control measures to control the risks need to be recorded. It’s also important to keep all the relevant information on each control measure, including manufacturers’ instructions, training requirements, data sheets and information on why the control measures were chosen.
