There are two agreed upon safe methods of erecting and dissembling mobile towers. These are:
  • 1. (The 3T system or ‘through-the-trap’ system). This method involves the operator taking up a working position standing on the access ladder with the trapdoor of the platform around their waist. From this position, they can add or remove the guard rail sections on the level above the platform.
  • 2. The advance guardrail system. In this method, temporary guard rail units are locked in place on the lower level and are moved up to the platform level first. Once the temporary guardrails are in place, the operator can then access the platform to fit the permanent guard rails.

When erecting a mobile tower, it’s important to remember that the tower must rest on firm, level ground with the locked castors properly supported. You must never use bricks or building blocks under the wheels or base plates of the tower.
